The brand
From Hamburg trading house to casual denim
Tom Tailor starts in Hamburg in 1962, when the company is founded as Henke & Co. The name changes later, but the brand’s base stays close to everyday dressing: shirts, chinos, jeans and light layers that do not need a special occasion.
The first sportswear collection appears in 1979, the Tom Tailor name arrives in 1989, and denim becomes a clearer part of the business from 1996. The women’s label follows in 1999, while Tom Tailor Denim is introduced in 2007 for a more jeans-led part of the wardrobe.
