The brand
From Bredebro shoemaker to own tanneries
Karl Toosbuy founded ECCO in Bredebro, Denmark, in 1963 with a shoemaker’s idea that design, leather and production should stay close to each other. That still matters when you pick up an ECCO shoe: the brand is not only styling footwear, it is controlling much of the way the leather and construction come together.
ECCO runs its own tanneries and makes about 98% of its shoes in its own factories, which is unusual in a footwear market built around outsourced production. The point is practical, not decorative: leather choice, softness, sole construction and fit can be checked inside the same system before a shoe reaches the shop floor.
At Tbilisi Outlet Village, that history translates into leather sneakers, loafers, derbies, ankle boots, sandals, belts and small leather goods from previous-season and outlet-specific stock. Colours, sizes and exact lines change with every delivery, so the best reason to visit is the category you need, not a promise of one exact pair.
1963 | Karl Toosbuy founds ECCO in Bredebro, Denmark, building the company around shoemaking and control of production.
1982 | ECCO opens its first own retail store, and annual production passes one million pairs.
