From Veneto knitwear to colour-led wardrobes
Benetton began in 1965 in Ponzano Veneto, when Luciano, Giuliana, Gilberto and Carlo Benetton started the company and opened the first store in Belluno. The early idea was rooted in knitwear: colour, yarn and everyday pieces that could move beyond a single season.
The brand became known not only for sweaters and cotton basics, but for the way it used communication. Oliviero Toscani became creative director in 1982, the first multiracial advertisement followed in 1984, and the United Colors of Benetton slogan was adopted in 1989.
In Tbilisi, that history translates into outlet shelves built around practical Benetton categories: cotton and wool knitwear, cardigans, shirts, chinos, jersey basics and kids' sizes.
